Hi, I’m Matt (aka @matts_brickcollection), and I’ve been a huge Star Wars fan for as long as I can remember. My LEGO® collection is full of ships and scenes from the galaxy far, far away, so when I got the chance to light up the LEGO® The Dark Falcon #75389, I knew it was going to be a fun project. This set is already such a bold reimagining of the Millennium Falcon, and the lights really help bring out its personality.
Lighting Inspiration
Starting at the back, I placed a Red 26L Flare Light to give the ship’s engine that glowing, ominous thrust—an instant visual cue that sets this version apart from the classic Falcon.
Inside, the cool white lighting illuminates the main interior, casting a clean and powerful glow that contrasts sharply with the red highlights. This helps show off all the details within the ship’s layout without losing that sinister edge.
The satellite dish is lit to create a strong focal point and make it feel active, as if locked onto a target in the heat of battle.
At the front, the landing lights and cockpit glow use red lighting to heighten the menacing feel of the ship’s controls. A final red highlight is placed in the interior jail cell, a subtle but impactful choice that makes this detail stand out with a foreboding glow.

The standout feature of this lighting setup has to be the red flare engine at the back of the Falcon. Powered by the Red 26L Flare Light, it delivers a striking, continuous glow that immediately changes the tone of the ship. Unlike the usual blue thrusters of the Millennium Falcon, this red engine feels dangerous and aggressive—perfectly in line with the Dark Falcon’s darker persona. It’s a small detail, but it transforms the model into something far more cinematic and powerful.
