Hi, I’m Will, a designer at Light My Bricks. As someone who loves LEGO® Botanicals for their calming, display-worthy designs, I was instantly drawn to the Mini Bonsai Trees set. It’s such a peaceful, meditative build that looks beautiful in any space. I wanted to capture that same tranquil feeling in the lighting design—soft, warm illumination that enhances the sculptural shapes of each bonsai without overpowering them.
Lighting Inspiration
The goal for lighting the Mini Bonsai Trees was to create a serene, gallery-like effect, much like you might see in a carefully curated indoor plant display. Each of the three bonsai—the golden-leaved Ginkgo, the lush Japanese Black Pine, and the cascading Wisteria—features a single spotlight shining upward into the canopy. This subtle placement mimics real-world arboreal lighting techniques, where light is angled from below to enhance texture, depth, and the natural shape of the leaves.
The arrangement is as flexible as the set itself—since the lights are positioned inside each stand, the interchangeable foliage can be swapped between trees without affecting the illumination. The largest display stand also has a hidden Astro Large Warm White light attached underneath, giving the entire arrangement a gentle under-glow that adds warmth and elegance to your space.
